Speech Language Program Public Health - Pediatrics

The Speech-Language Program sees preschool-aged children who live in the Capital Region, and who require speech-language services.  Children needing services in addition to speech and language therapy, such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychological assessment, social work, and support for hearing impairment, are referred to other agencies within Island Healh where their speech and language therapy is provided in conjunction with other services.

We provide speech-language assessments and treatment at five regional public health units located in Victoria, Saanich, Esquimalt, West Shore and the Peninsula.  Families may choose to attend the health unit that is most convenient.

Accessing Services

  • We accept referrals from Public Health Nurses, audiologists, physicians and other community professionals.  Parents may request a referral through their Public Health Nurse, audiologist or physician.
  • Telephone or written referrals should be directed to the health unit closest to, or most convenient for, the family.
