Ashley Kruse

I discovered midwifery while living in the Yukon shortly after finishing a BA in Psychology at UBC.   Though I thought I wanted to work in mental health, midwifery seemed to pop up everywhere I turned.  Soon there were stacks of books on pregnancy and childbirth all over the house and, after completing my doula training, I was hooked.  Over the next several years I travelled to many corners of the globe and completed a degree in UBC's Midwifery Education Program.

I am awed by the physiological transformation of pregnancy and inspired by the social, cultural, and personal transformation of women into mothers.  My appreciation of this was magnified by the birth of my daughters, with the help of midwives, in 2008 and 2012.  To my practice of midwifery, I bring a deep commitment to respecting and supporting women to make choices about their maternity care.

When I am not admiring bellies and babies, I am kept busy with my beautiful young family enjoying this great west coast city we live in. I look forward to getting to know you and sharing in your journey through pregnancy, birth, and parenthood.
